Foods and ht healing

Hi Topcat,

I like yourself am a lover of nutrition and I believe poor nutrition is the major cause of all modern chronic diseases (heart disease, diabetes, obesity, many cancers , etc..).

The human diet should not contain hydrogenated vegetable oils, refined carbohydrates, artificial sugars or ideally any processed foods. The majority of our calories should come from saturated and monounsaturated fats (pastured animals, raw dairy, avocados, olive oil, etc) and essential fatty acids found in oily fish and nuts. We should also eat around 7 portions of veggies a day and some fruit. Tubers are also a good addition especially when exercising (sweet potatoes).

I could go on for a while but I have a question. I am a firm believer that medication should be avoided in general. Losing my hair is a big issue for me (as it is very everyone on this forum) and I really struggle with the thought of taking finasteride for the rest of my life!! It has well documented side effects (my libido has reduced) and I am considering giving it up. It doesnt fit with my nutritional beliefs. I have a FUE HT scheduled with Dr. Bisanga in Feb-13 and I realise I should ideally take Finasteride to help maintain my current hair.
Basically, with your love of nutrition do you take Finasteride?

Cheers,
Stu.

Hey Stu that is a tough one but I don t take Finasteride and would never even consider it. Just my personal opinion, I can t imagine taking a lifelong medication. Most people probably do not agree with me here but sometimes health issues don t show up in everyone and sometimes it takes 20-30 years when they do show up and all too often most cannot connect the dots. I like to use smoking as an example it took well over 100 years to make the connection between smoking and lung cancer. Not everyone experienced the disease and when they did it usually took about 20-30 years. Chances of someone getting lung cancer from smoking for a few years is probably very slim but when you start talking about 20-30 years of smoking that is a completely different story. It seems obvious now but that wasn t always the case.

If I had a clean canvas on my head I would just have surgery according to where I knew my hair loss pattern was heading. Knowing that I would leave my crown bald and have a mature hairline to frame the face with some density behind it and only FUE. I think that is a good look when the work looks natural and with this approach I would not have to worry about having to take Finasteride.

Yeah I'm pretty much on the same page as yourself. I have been taking finasteride for the last year but have never been comfortable doing so. There are way too many people complaining of side effects (myself included). I also believe there are many more who are suffering side effects but are just not aware of it (they think the lower libido is an age thing or don't remember what it was before!).

Anyway KI haven't taken them for a month now and if I lose some hair so be it. I am happy in myself.

Looking forward to the surgery now in Feb-13. I am getting 2,000 grafts FUE with Dr. Bisanga on the frontal third. Pretty much as you said, getting the face framed and will go from there. Losing some hair on the crown in a few years doesn't really bother me too much, so no meds!!!

Cheers for the advice.

This type of topic is very useful as it demonstrates the body's need for good nourishment, not the rubbish that is pushed on you by the large corporations.

A new German study reveals that GMO feed allows certain organisms to flourish in the gut of chickens including Salmonella, Tetani (tetnus) and C botulinum (botulism). Without getting into great detail the glyphosate which is the pesticide built into the seed is the cause. Most of this information is suppressed in the mainstream media and Monsanto spent millions to prevent a GMO labeling bill to pass in California alone. The point here is that when information is suppressed it hurts everyone and when the information is brought to light hopefully others can make a better decision. So if you have children please think twice about feeding them anything GMO including that morning bowl of cereal. If this is all new to you and it makes you angry I understand.

I have gotten to the point over the years to where I just eat foods for a specific reason being improvement in either mental or physical performance and the fact is everything I eat is absolutely delicious as it is real food.

I don t use much in the way of supplements besides a few foods extracts. Since I am fairly aware of how a food or substance affects my body due to this lifestyle I would recommend something to others that I recently started using Astaxanthin which is a micro algae. I can say that it actually does improve the condition of the skin and I would suggest those interested to research it, hope this is helpful to others.

Topcat is definitely schooled in foods and the effects of. Many years back he steered me to eat grass fed beef and local garden items variety. I haven't been perfect but I have changed my diet. I live outside of the twin cities and have the luxury to buy local beef straight from the farm and even pork and chicken.

Thanks Hairtech sometimes I think people think eating healthy doesn t mean eating tasty. Yesterday I had hamburgers cooked rare from 100% grass fed beef seasoned with turmeric, black pepper, chili powder, Celtic sea salt and smothered in grilled onions and garlic using 100% virgin coconut oil with a side of fresh grown broccoli sprouts from my own window garden. Each ingredient has a purpose and a reason for using it. The anti viral, anti bacterial, anti fungal properties of the lauric acid in the coconut oil. The anti cancer properties of the conjugated linoleic acid in the beef. The antibiotic effects of the garlic. The health benefits of the inulin in the onions. The ability of the broccoli sprouts to remove xenoestrogens all this and more helps the body heal and this is without going into great detail as they is much more. Processed foods on the other hand do exactly the opposite and all have ingredients that place a tremendous burden on the body slowing the healing process and causing disease.

Today I had homemade soup using pastured turkey wings. When the soup cools in congeals into this thick gelatin and the benefits of that gelatin are numerous especially when it comes to skin, hair and joints and once again it was delicious. Much better and safer than anything you can fine in a box or can. Anyone who has joint problems be it shoulder or knee I highly suggest this recipe. You could also use chicken wings or feet ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦lol ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦yes feet is an age old remedy that has been lost as there is no money to be made as the money is in hip and knee replacements.

Does all this matter in the healing process from my experience I would say most definitely.

So recently Gatorade removed the flame retardant from their product and Burger King has dropped the meat supplier that got caught using some horse meat mixed in with their hamburger. Oh and many of these same outfits have been pressured to drop the pink slime from their meat product. Here is an excellent way for those interested in trying to change their dietary habits and take better care of themselves. It only requires you to hold a thought in your head when you reach for something you probably know is not good for you and certainly will not help with your healing.

These companies selling these products are laughing at you. They don €™t care if you end up with a disease ridden body as long as they are making more money. So instead of letting them take advantage of you use this thought of how hard they are laughing to your advantage and do the opposite.

Well it turns out from recent news reports that the beef being sold in the UK might not be horse meat after all but donkey meat ¦ ¦lol ¦ ¦.I m mean really how can you not but laugh. People and especially corporations can simply no longer be trusted as the greed as gone to their head. I suggest knowing farmers in your area and purchase your food from the man that actually grows and raises and cares about what he is doing. This applies to most of what you do, try to get to know people on a personal level and decide if they are people you can trust.

I gave a speech about 7-8 years ago in which I used a kitchen as a back scene and actually have it on video tape. I m not going to go into great detail here but one of the props I used in my presentation involved a big pot where one of the ingredients I added to the pot was a stuffed donkey. People laughed but hardly believed what I had to say as it could not be possible in their minds. If I can find the transcript I will post it here. Yes people don t believe it until it happens to them.

I read the article in The Independent about the donkey meat. Everyone in the industry knows what goes on it s just the public that is in the dark why do they seem so surprised. As long as everyone is making money nobody wants to rock the boat, does that sound familiar well it should.

Here is that speech and this is from quite a long time ago and yes I m an amateur but it s about the message and the truth is sometimes stranger than fiction. One thing the ht industry has taught me is that everything has to be thoroughly investigated. Just like I thought years ago that the doctor couldn t possibly harm me with full knowledge no one today would think they would have to check to see if the hamburger was really donkey meat who would knowingly do that to the food supply? Guess those that ate it didn t research ¦ ¦lol ¦ ¦.

Have you ever been on the job and thought to yourself wow this job really blows. No matter how great our jobs might be sometimes we just wish we were doing something else. Whenever I get that feeling I start to think about other jobs. There must be some other job out there that is worse than the one I m doing and when I do this I start to feel a whole lot better. One of the worst jobs I can think of is the job of the renderer ¦ ¦ ¦hmmm ¦ ¦..now that job really blows.

Whenever I think of the renderer I count my blessings. So what does the renderer do? Well the renderer is kind of like a chef, he makes the food for cattle, chickens, pigs, pet food and a host of other products. The recipes are an industry secret but I have them and I would like to share them with you tonight. Let s go over to the kitchen.

Did you ever wonder where all the dead animals and animal parts go that we don t eat? Well they go to the renderer those are the secret ingredients.

Let s turn up the heat on our big pot and add our first ingredient which will be the cow. These are the inedible parts like the head, spine, hooves, and intestines. I do accept whole cows they are called downer cows, the ones so diseased that can t stand. Those are supposed to come to me at least that is what the government says. A few weeks ago they were considered fit for consumption but that policy has recently changed. Between you and me the big industrial farmers don t like it when I give them pennies on the dollar so I don t get them all so you might still be eating those. Next we will add pig, chicken and horse parts along with the excrement from cattle and chicken yes really. We will let that stew for a few hours.

Now we will take it off the heat and let it cool. As it cools the fat is going to rise to the top, we will scoop that off, filter it, send it off to the centrifuge and then filter it some more. We are going to make some great products with that like candies, soap, candles, lipstick and other neat things.

The heavier ingredients fall to the bottom. We will send that over to the dryer and then pulverize it to get a nice powder, we can use that as feed. First we are going to make cattle feed, that s right we will feed it back to the cows although in 1997 a ban was put into effect. No more cow parts so pretend I didn t add that cow in fact let me take the cow back out as we don t want any mad cow disease. The reason we do all this is because it is cost effective. We get cheap protein and we get rid of all the dead animals and parts at the same time. Even though cows are part of the ruminant family and are only suppose to eat grass with the added protein in their diet the big industrial farmer can get them to market at a heavier weight and make more profit.

Now if we add the cow back in legally we can feed it to the chickens and pigs. I never could quite understand that, those same chickens and pigs we feed back to the cows. Oh well I suppose the lawmakers know what they re doing after all I m just the renderer.

We re also going to make some pet food today, basically the same ingredients but we just add a few things. A dog, a cat and this old donkey somebody brought in that was lying on the side of the road. Yes we use the same pot but is should be okay.

The last item we will be making today uses cow s blood. The blood is special so we do that separate. We heat it up, dry it and we will end up with a nice fine protein powder. Legally we are allowed to feed this back to the cows and since most of the milk goes to market and not the calves we have a special product just for them. First Life Formula, its dried blood and one of our best sellers.

You just witnessed a day in the life of the renderer. Imagine toiling away in withering heat surrounded by dead, rotten, smelly animal flesh, just imagine the stench.

I realize the renderer must serve some purpose after all he does help the industrial farmer to produce cheap meat and make more money and hey what would a birthday cake be without candles. Even though I think I will stick with the grass fed beef I buy from my local farmer who after many years of knowing him I can also call friend. He cares about his family and what he does. He is happier than most in life, just goes to show you it s doesn t always have to be about the money.

The more I think about it the more I m glad I m not the renderer.

The moral to the story here and what does it have to do with hair transplantation. What happened to me 25 years ago would not happen to the person I am today. The experience has made me become much more aware of who is doing what and why they are doing it and after speaking with many other repair patients I m not alone as they feel the same. It's just sad that we have to research almost every decision we make and most especially when it comes to our bodies.

The upside to this recent story is that I think you are much safer eating the donkey meat than most meat sold at grocery stores. Donkeys eat pretty much their natural diet. They re not fed GMO corn/soybeans and shot up with hormones and antibiotics and it's also better than meat diluted with pink slime.

Real beef is healing for the body. The fatty acid ratio is much higher in omega3 and comparable to wild caught fish. It s high in conjugated linoleic acid which helps prevent cancer. The gelatin from the bones along with the glycoaminoglycans help heal the skin. You can't trademark or patent real food and that should tell you all you need to know.

This small blurb is from an article in The Telegraph.

Pessimistic people live longer ¦ ¦..hmmm ¦ ¦I would agree as they are much more cautious, thank you hair transplant industry.

Older people blighted by pessimism and fear for the future are more likely to live longer, according to scientists.
A study, into 40,000 adults across ten years, has found those with low expectations for a satisfying future actually led healthier lives.
In contrast, people who were overly optimistic about the days ahead had a greater risk of disability or death within ten years.

"Pessimism about the future may encourage people to live more carefully, taking health and safety precautions."

My experience has actually awakened me to what is really going on in many places and that is a good thing.

Okay now Taco Bell is finding horsemeat in their product ¦ ¦ ¦hmmmm ¦ ¦ ¦ Pepsico with flame retardant in Gatorade ¦ ¦ ¦McDonalds with pink slime ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦Kraft Foods with their hydrogenated oil are you starting to see a trend here probably not what I m thinking. All these products and services have one thing in common and that is that they all have gotten you to associate love and good feelings with their product and that is why you buy it believe it or not. Meanwhile the small farmer that sells raw milk is swat teamed and put into jail all part of the trend. It comes down to information everyone is trying very hard to get you to believe what they are saying including me but I do it because it s something I feel strongly about. When you do it to make money ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦.hmmmm ¦ ¦ ¦..well that kind of skews your vision as you see those dollar or euro signs. Is injecting ink into your head a good thing, I don t know maybe it is after all that is what the experts selling it tell us.;)

I try not to cut and paste articles to the forum but I think in this case this article is well worth reading. Not so much for the content which I have personally found to be 100% true but for understanding how information is manipulated when there is money to be made. I would consider the Sun just as important as food in healing the body and mind.

June 4, 2013 by MARCO TORRES

The Sun Is Heating Up And It's Time To Ignore Every Single Message You Hear About Slathering On Sunscreen

The idea that sunscreen prevents cancer is a falsity promoted by a profit-seeking tag-team effort between the cancer industry and the sunscreen industry. How convenient an oversight by these demonizers of the sun that people closest to the equator have the lowest incidence of skin cancer, but you'll never hear that message on your local news. Instead, as the summer approaches the media bombards us daily with myths that blocking the sun's rays from reaching our skin will somehow protect us from the one thing it actually prevents--cancer.

Blocking the sun's rays from reaching our skin dramatically influences our optimal vitamin D levels, leading to higher mortality, critical illness and mental health disorders. Ironically, sunscreen itself causes cancer.

A Tale of Corruption and Deception

The sunscreen industry makes money by selling lotion products that actually contain cancer-causing chemicals. It then donates a portion of that money to the cancer industry through non-profit groups like Cancer Societies which, in turn, run heart-breaking public service ads and charity events such as Relay For Life urging people to donate and use sunscreen to "prevent cancer."

The cancer establishment has retreated from the truth. What began as sincere investigation into the economic root causes of a complex set of 200 different diseases, at the turn of the 20th century, quickly degenerated into a single-minded focus. All cancer societies are now dedicated to funding drug companies to "find the cure" that will never exist, at least not from any mainstream institution.

Devra Davis, one of North America's sharpest epidemiologists "Astonishing alliances between naive or far too clever academics and folks with major economic interests in selling potentially cancerous materials have kept us from figuring out whether or not many modern products affect our chances of developing cancer." She has documented how some of the world's most prominent cancer researchers secretly worked for chemical firms without disclosing these ties when publishing studies.

Davis' work will rob you of any lingering, Disney-like fantasies you might have entertained about the nobility of cancer fundraising campaigns actually doing some good the cancer patients. Please DON'T support American or Canadian Cancer Societies or Relays For Life.

Many grants funding cancer research are supported by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Melanoma Research Foundation. The NCI is the same federally funded (and privately funded by Big Pharma) organization that promotes mammography via ionizing radiation. In fact they are one of the biggest mammography promoters in the nation. They are directly managed by the biotech sector and typically employ pharmaceutical executives on their boards.

The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is filled with scientific advisory members with conflicts interests statements littering their academic work. The decision makers at MRF are all current or former pharmaceutical executives or board members.

Why Sunscreen Will Never Prevent Cancer And May Cause It

The Sun does not cause cancer. Researchers have concluded that UVA exposure has not contributed to the rise in the incidence of melanoma over the past 30 years. UVA makes up 90 percent of the ultraviolet light spectrum of sunlight.

"Our data refute the only direct evidence that UVA causes melanoma, which is not to say that UVA is harmless," said the study's lead author David Mitchell, Ph.D., professor in M. D. Anderson's Department of Carcinogenesis located at its Science Park -- Research Division in Smithville, Texas. "UVA is just not as dangerous as we thought because it doesn't cause melanoma."

Both UVA and UVB can cause tanning and burning, although UVB does so far more rapidly. UVA, however, penetrates your skin more deeply than UVB.

UVB appears to be protective against melanoma -- or rather, the vitamin D your body produces in response to UVB radiation is protective.
As written in The Lancet:
"Paradoxically, outdoor workers have a decreased risk of melanoma compared with indoor workers, suggesting that chronic sunlight exposure can have a protective effect."
So if UVA and UVB do not cause melanoma, why use sunscreen?
Skin cancer rates are increasing and the so-called experts are STILL blaming the sun for a problem manufactured right here on earth.

If the sun was REALLY causing skin cancer, and if sunscreen prevented it, we €™d be cancer-free by now. We €™re already spending less time outside than ever, and wasting billions of dollars a year on needless, dangerous creams and lotions.
Meanwhile, just a couple of generations ago, we spent far more time out in the sun and ZILCH on sunscreen -- and skin cancer was practically unheard of.

After decades of debate, several governments have failed to set mandatory sunscreen safety standards. Companies are free to make their own decisions on everything from advertising claims to product quality. The underlying message is that sunscreen applications are presently carrying risks that far outweigh any benefit to the public.

Comprehensive scientific reviews indicate that 83% of 785 sunscreen products contain ingredients with significant safety concerns. Only 17% of the products on the market block both UVA and UVB radiation which is the intended purpose by manufacturers of sunscreen, so what's the point? The assessment by the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep database was based on a review of nearly 400 scientific studies, industry models of sunscreen efficacy, and toxicity and regulatory information housed in nearly 60 government, academic, and industry databases.
At least 50% of products on the market bear claims that are considered "unacceptable" or misleading under sunscreen safety standards. An analysis of marketing claims on hundreds of sunscreen bottles shows that false and misleading marketing claims are common. They give consumers a false sense of security (based on myths) with claims like "all day protection," "mild as water," and "blocks all harmful rays" which are completely untrue, yet are found on bottles. Consumers might assume that, because researchers have implicated ultraviolet light in skin cancer development, sunscreen automatically thwarts skin cancer. They play on this consumer bandwagon of fear and hope on an issue shouldn't even be an issue...blocking the sun!

A review of the technical literature shows that some sunscreen ingredients absorb into the blood, and some are linked to toxic effects. Some release skin-damaging free radicals in sunlight, some act like estrogen and could disrupt hormone systems, several are strongly linked to allergic reactions, and still others may build up in the body or the environment.
Almost two dozen law suits have been filed against Johnson & Johnson Inc., Schering-Plough Corp., Playtex Products Inc., Tanning Research Laboratories Inc. and Chattem Inc involving some of the most popular brands, including Coppertone, Banana Boat, Hawaiian Tropic, Bullfrog and Neutrogena -- charge that manufacturers inflate claims about sunscreens, lulling consumers into believing their products are safe when they have shown to CAUSE cancer.

Almost half of the 500 most popular sunscreen products may actually increase the speed at which malignant cells develop and spread skin cancer because they contain vitamin A or its derivatives retinol and retinyl palmitate which accelerate tumor growth.

In a year-long study, tumors and lesions developed up to 21 percent faster in lab animals coated in a vitamin A-laced cream than animals treated with a vitamin-free cream, a report by EWG stated based on their analysis of initial findings released by the FDA and the National Toxicology Program,

Based on the strength of the findings by FDA's own scientists, many in the public health community say they can't believe nor understand why the agency hasn't already notified the public of the possible danger.

Scientists have reported that particle size affects the toxicity of zinc oxide, a material widely used in sunscreens. Particles smaller than 100 nanometers are slightly more toxic to colon cells than conventional zinc oxide. Solid zinc oxide was more toxic than equivalent amounts of soluble zinc, and direct particle to cell contact was required to cause cell death. Their study is in ACS' Chemical Research in Toxicology, a monthly journal.

The Environmental Working Group who previously analyzed 15 studies on nanoparticles on sunscreen said that no investigations have ever assessed absorption through damaged skin. Such data is missing €œfor nearly all of the 17 sunscreen chemicals approved for use in the U.S. € The scientists note that a concern is children accidentally ingesting nano-sized zinc oxide.

Another common and toxic ingredient in sunscreens is titanium dioxide. New research published in ACS' journal, Environmental Science & Technology found that Children may be receiving the highest exposure to nanoparticles of titanium dioxide. The geometry of titanium dioxide (TiO2) based nanofilaments appears to play a crucial role in cytotoxicity having a strong dose-dependent effect on cell proliferation and cell death.

A comprehensive study conducted by researchers at UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer found that titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles, found in everything from cosmetics to sunscreen to paint to vitamins, caused systemic genetic damage in mice. The TiO2 nanoparticles induced single- and double-strand DNA breaks and also caused chromosomal damage as well as inflammation, all of which increase the risk for cancer.

Vitamin D From The Sun is The Key In Preventing Disease

The scientific evidence, however, shows quite clearly that sunscreen actually promotes cancer by blocking the body's absorption of ultraviolet radiation, which produces vitamin D in the skin. Vitamin D, as recent studies have shown, prevents up to 77 of ALL cancers in women (breast cancer, colon cancer, cervical cancer, lung cancer, brain tumors, multiple myeloma, etc). Meanwhile, the toxic chemical ingredients used in most sunscreen products are actually carcinogenic and have never been safety tested. They get absorbed right through the skin (a porous organ that absorbs most substances it comes into contact with) and enter the bloodstream.

For the past several years, there has been considerable interest in the role vitamin D plays in improving health and preventing disease. Previous finding show that low levels of vitamin D have been directly associated with various forms of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Stephen B. Kritchevsky, PhD, Professor of Internal Medicine and Transitional Science at the Wake Forest School of Medicine found a significant correlation.

"We observed vitamin D insufficiency (defined as blood levels <20 ng/ml), in one third of our study participants. This was associated with nearly a 50 percent increase in the mortality rate in older adults," said Kritchevsky. "Our findings suggest that low levels of vitamin D may be a substantial public health concern for our nation's older adults."

Cedric F. Garland, Dr.P.H., cancer prevention specialist at the Moores Cancer Center at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and colleagues estimate that 250,000 cases of colorectal cancer and 350,000 cases of breast cancer could be prevented worldwide by increasing intake of vitamin D3, particularly in countries north of the equator. "For the first time, we are saying that 600,000 cases of breast and colorectal cancer could be prevented each year worldwide, including nearly 150,000 in the United States alone," said Garland.

Although vitamin D can be obtained from limited dietary sources and directly from exposure to the sun during the spring and summer months, the combination of poor dietary intake and sun avoidance has created vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency in large proportions of many populations worldwide.

It is known that vitamin D has a wide range of physiological effects and that correlations exist between insufficient amounts of vitamin D and an increased incidence of a number of cancers. These correlations are particularly strong for cancers of the digestive tract, including colon cancer, and certain forms of leukemia.

Spending an average of three hours a day exposed to sunlight can slash the risk of breast cancer by up to 50 percent.

People with higher blood levels of vitamin D live significantly longerthan people who have low blood levels of the vitamin.

A new study from University College London in the UK found that people with higher vitamin D levels had a 43% lower risk of depression, compared to people with vitamin D lower levels.
Results published in Clinical Nutrition also indicated that the higher vitamin D levels were associated with a 67% lower risk of panic, compared to the lower levels.
"The high burden of mental and behavioral disorders and concurrent high prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency (<75nmol/l) worldwide (29) highlight the potential importance of our findings," wrote the researchers, led by Jane Maddock from the UCL Institute of Child Health.

People with the highest levels of vitamin D have the lowest risk of skin cancer. Sure, you can get some of that from a pill...but historically, most people have gotten their D straight from the source: the sun, and protecting yourself from it 100 years ago with clothing, cream or anything would likely have been viewed as its own mental health disorder.

How To Make Your Own Non-Toxic Sunscreen

While the sun will not cause cancer, it is not in your best interest to burn your skin. So if you are prone to burning easily, try making your own natural sunscreen to extend your exposure.

New York Times Best selling author, Sophie Uliano of Gorgeously Greenand her new book DO IT GORGEOUSLY, shows you how to make your own non toxic sunscreen in less than 4 minutes.

Please omit zinc oxide from the recipe to make a truly natural and toxic free version of this sunscreen, especially during preparation. Zinc oxide can affect the lungs and reproductive system if inhaled. Replace the zinc oxide with 1 tablespoon of avocado oil which helps increase the sun protection factor (SPF).
Recipe: (SPF 6-8)
2 tablespoon Virgin Coconut Oil
1 tablespoon Shea Butter
1 tablespoon Avocado Oil
1/2 teaspoon Sesame Oil
1/2 teaspoon Aloe Vera Gel
Keep in mind that this recipe will not allow you to stay in the sun for hours without burning, even if you have darker skin. If you have pale skin and are prone to burning in very short periods, this recipe will only modestly protect you when UV rays are at their highest strength. Intermittent periods spent in the shade are highly recommended to balance the UV dose you receive.

For those that tan well, this lotion will give you an excellent color and glow if used daily while spending a minimum of 30 minutes in the sun.

Although it not waterproof, it is water resistant if applied thoroughly and spread evenly. In direct sunlight, you must reapply a thin layer of the lotion every half hour for optimal results.

Spread the word: Please promote the use of non-toxic sunscreens.

Topccat29; I've read this thread numerous times with great interest; I believe you are correct when you point out how the industry suppresses information and promotes the foods that generate the most profit regardless of our health.
Blueberries are a must addition to your daily food intake; however the more this is made public; the higher the industry charge making them out of reach for low income families; thus these people buy the cheap money making rubbish.
Topccat29; do you eat eggs raw or cook them? What would you say is the most nutritional way to eat eggs?
Regards Joe.

Okay I ll bite. I must say I really enjoy posting as it gives me the opportunity to work at taking my thoughts and writing them quickly while still trying to make some sense ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦.good practice.

My answer is raw eggs and I eat them mostly raw but not all the time. On average I eat about a dozen eggs a day for the most part and depending sometimes I will eat 20 or so for no particular reason except maybe convenience. Those quantities of eggs I have been eating for about 15 years or so.

Sometimes I will eat that larger portion of eggs just to prove a point while also being able to use my own results in my writings which I m slowly putting together. People that are having heart attacks are not in fact eating loads of eggs or cholesterol they are eating diets that create a substantial amount of inflammation. I would put my own health and performance results up against anyone and for me regardless of if we are talking about nutrition or hair transplants it really all comes down to results the rest are all just words. Where the cholesterol comes in is in healing all the damage the inflammation is creating as it is an excellent wound healer. You also need cholesterol to make vitamin D which also aids greatly in wound healing so personally I think it is best to store plenty of vitamin D in your tissues during the summer so that you heal well throughout the year.

Of course most medical experts who are hardly the bastion of health would not agree with this approach. But if you look at what the big pharmaceutical companies are doing they are working specifically with MABS to reduce inflammation because they know heart disease/attacks has very little to do with cholesterol in the majority of cases but in the mean time it s a multibillion dollar business and all you have to do is make people afraid it works like magic it s like shaking a money tree. Just keep lowering the cholesterol numbers and more money starts falling from the tree.

Can most people eat that many eggs, even if they wanted to probably not. After a few days the little voice in the head starts telling them this can t possibly be right and it will get the better of them. They will stop their little experiment ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦.fear kicks in, much safer to follow whatever the herd is doing. But who exactly is doing the herding and do they have your best interests in mind?

The public will know about just this one issue among many when the time is right and right now with all the money that is being made the time is not right.

You know I read something recently that I thought was interesting. The manufacturer of Tylenol is being made to put a label on it product warning too much of this product can cause liver damage. This was very well known 30 years ago because I read about it numerous times in some of the publications I subscribed to. People who were using the product and some after having consumed alcohol were suffering complete liver failure and either died or needed a liver transplant. So why does it take 30 years to get the warning on the label. Because that is just the way it works you almost have to research everything to death which is a sad statement for humanity.

As far as ever being sick from eating raw eggs it has never happened not even once and I consume a lot of eggs. The only time I have been deathly ill from food happened twice in my life and on both occasions it was restaurant food. I stay away from restaurants unless I am definitely forced into the situation and then I order appropriately and keep my fingers crossed.

The eggs I buy are from local farms where the farmers feed the birds supplemental grain only. Birds do not eat a diet of concentrated grain. They eat bugs, worms, and greens and that should make up the majority of their diet so that you are eating healthy eggs.

Abstract
Background
Burn injury is a major cause of death and disability worldwide. A domestic medication in wound healing, preventing infection and reduction of scar tissue as well as availability is still an important challenge. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of yolk egg oil in treatment of burn wounds in rats.

Methods
A standard 3rd degree burn wound was produced and the animals were divided into three groups according to topical treatment including yolk oil, 1% silver sulfadiazine (SSD) and control. In days 7, 14 and 30,animal s weight, wound size, as well as histopathological findings of skin were evaluated in different groups.
Results

Average size of wound after 7 days was 3.4, 5.3, and 6.7 cm in yolk oil, SSD and control groups. There were significant differences between yolk oil and the other groups in this aspect. The wound size of yolk egg group was also significantly smaller than other groups in 14th and 30th days. Results of the histological studies indicated significant differences between yolk oil, SSD and control groups on day 30, with mean score of 3.75, 3.5 and 2.8 respectively. The difference between yolk oil and the other groups was significant.
Conclusion

Yolk oil treated burned animals showed abundant re-epithelialization without tissue scar in comparison with SSD group. Although the egg yolk has many vital nutrients, but its exact mechanism in healing process is unknown. Therefore, further studies evaluating the influence of individual components on burn-healing process is advised.

Introduction

Million peoples annually suffer from burn injuries and it is a major cause of death and disability in the world. Therefore, a need for a local and effective wound healing medication and in preventing infection, decreasing fluid imbalance, promoting re-epithelialization, reducing the occurrence of scar tissue and a good availability is an important challenge. Silver sulfadiazine (1% SSD) cream is the most common used topical treatment for treatment of burn injury.[1] Its potent anti-microbial efficacy is the main reason for widespread usage.[2][3][4] However, it has systemic complications such as neutropenia, renal toxicity and methaemoglobinemia.[5][6] Delayed wound healing following treatment is another unfavorable clinical adverse effect of topical silver ointments.[3] There are some studies on animal models reporting traditional and domestic remedies in burns.[7][8][9]

The oil of egg made from the yolk consists largely of a high fat, protein, carbohydrate, ash and water that seem excellent in healing process. Avian eggs are preferable in view of their low cost and their ready availability from chickens and turkeys. Various portions of the avian egg were found useful in pharmaceutical and cosmetic preparations. The albumin or white portion of the egg has been utilized in a pliable bacteriostatic coagulum for the treatment of burns as described in literature.[10] In this prospective randomized trial, wounds were treated with oil prepared from yolk egg and SSD and the results were compared histologically to assess the rate of wound healing.

Materials and Methods
Fresh farm eggs were purchased from a local grocery store. Egg shell was carefully broken, the yolk was separated from the egg white, and the egg yolk oil was extracted as described by Warren M. et al.[11]

Sixty male Wistar rats weighing 180 to 200 grams were used and housed under standard conditions. All experiments, care and the sacrifice procedure were under supervision of Animal Care Committee of Iran Veterinary Organization. The rats were sedated by intramuscular injection of ketamine and xylocain. The back hairs were shaved and a standard 3rd degree burn wound was produced using a hot plate with the same size about 20% total body surface area as previously described.[12] After 24 hours, the animals were randomly divided into three groups (n=20/group). Group 1 was treated with oil made from the yolk of egg, group 2 received 1% SSD (Cina Daru Company, Tehran, Iran) and group 3 was the control group getting no topical agent. The wounds were treated twice daily. They were observed daily for evidence of infection, exudates or tightening of the skin in the burn area.

In order to quantify the rate of wound healing, the weight of animals and the size of lesions were determined at 7, 14 and 21 days after burn injury. On days 7, 14 and 21 of treatment, the animals were sacrificed with an overdose of anesthetics; the burn areas were removed and fixed in formalin. Tissue sections were prepared and stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H and E). Histological scores were expressed as described by Galeano et al.,[13] including degree of epithelialization (absence or presence of epithelial covering, crusting, spongiosis and intraepithelial inflammatory cells), granulation tissue and collagen matrix organization (adipose tissue substitution as an index of impaired wound closure, dense eosinophilic collagen matrix, edema, hemorrhage, degree of inflammation, number and organization of fibroblasts with shapes such as a plumped, spindle, or stellate-morphology), inflammatory infiltrates (neutrophile and lymphocytes), and angiogenesis (number of capillary lumens, congestion, fibrin deposition, hemorrhage). The histological scoring system ranged between 1 and 4 as described previously.[13]

The results were expressed as mean ±SD. The data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 11.5, Chicago, IL, USA) by non-parametric tests of Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whiteney tests. A p<0.05 was considered statistically significance.

Results
Average weight of animals in three groups of yolk oil, silver sulfadiazine and control before beginning of this study was 185 ±23.6 grams, and after 7 days of induction of burn decreased to 198, 164 and 155 grams respectively. There were significant differences between groups in the reduction of weight. The average weight of animal in all groups increased after the treatment period (21 days, Table 1). There were significant differences between yolk oil and the other groups in this aspect.

Table 1
Body weights of treated rats with yolk egg, silver sulfadiazine (SDD) and control in different days of experiment.
Skin lesions were measured on 7, 14 and 21 days after burn injury. Average size of wound after 7 days was 3.4, 5.3, and 6.7 Cm in yolk oil, SSD and control groups (Table 2). There were significant differences between yolk oil and the other groups in this aspect. There was also statistical difference among yolk oil and the others in wound size on the 30th day of treatment (p=0.009).

Table 2
Average wound size of treated animals with yolk egg, silver sulfadiazine (SDD) and control in different days of experiment
Results of the histological studies indicated significant differences between yolk oil, SSD and control groups on day 30, with mean score of 3.75, 3.5 and 2.8 respectively (Table 3). Yolk egg group exhibited good re-epithelialization with no evidence of crusting or scar formation (Figure 1). Granulation tissue formation consisted of oval or spindle fibroblasts embedded in eosinophilic collagen matrix and oriented parallel to the epithelial surface were noticed. There were few inflammatory cell infiltrations, mainly in perivascular site. The number of new capillaries within the granulation tissue was significantly higher. Minimal interstitial edema with no evidence of hemorrhage was also identified.

Histological scores in burn wounds from rats treated with yolk egg, silver sulfadiazine (SDD) and control.

Fig. 1
Complete re-epithelialization, low inflammatory cell infiltrate in a well- formed granulation tissue (H and E Ã100).
The control group showed loose collagen matrix with scattered plumped fibroblasts with edema, hemorrhage, and fibrin deposition. Granulation tissue with few congested capillary was seen. The dermal layer was occupied by adipose tissue as indexes of immaturity (Figure 2). In epidermis, absence of epithelial covering with evidence of crusting or incomplete monolayer of epidermal cells was observed.

Discussion
An egg yolk is the part of an egg that serves as the food source for the developing embryo inside. All of the egg's fat and cholesterol, and almost half of the protein are present in egg yolk. Lipids of yolk are exclusively associated with lipoprotein assemblies. They are made up of 62% triglycerides, 33% phospholipids, and less than 5% cholesterol. The omega 3 fatty acids, mainly found in phospholipids, are another important component of yolk, which is considered an essential nutrient for brain function and visual acuity in humans.[7][14][15] The composition of the fatty acids in egg yolk included unsaturated fatty acids of oleic acid, linoleic acid, palmitoleic acid, linolenic acid and saturated fatty acids consisting of palmitic and stearic acid.

All of the fat soluble vitamins are found in the egg yolk as one of the few foods naturally containing vitamin D. Carotenoids are the natural pigments of hen egg yolk that confer with its yellow color. Egg yolk also contains immunoglobulin yolk (IgY). It is transferred from the laying hen to the egg yolk by passive immunity to protect both embryo and hatchling from microorganism invasion. It is supposed that it has antioxidant properties.[14][15] According to above mentioned points, egg yolk has many vital nutrients that are used in medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

Thermal burn injury is still a major cause of death and disability in the world and its healing process is a challenge in modern medicine. Burn in human body may be treated by different methods depending on the extent and severity of the burn.[16] SSD is commonly used to prevent and treat infections of the second and third-degree, burns. It kills a wide variety of bacteria.[17][18]

Epidermal regeneration of a wound is a complex process that the residual epithelial cells proliferate in an integrated manner to form an intact epidermis.[19][20] In this study, yolk oil treated burned animals showed abundant re-epithelialization without any tissue scar in comparison with SSD group. It is suggested that biological materials of the yolk are responsible for the reduction in catabolism as well as increased matrix synthesis and promotion of re-epithelialization. However, further studies evaluating the influence of individual components with different dosage on maturation and proliferation of cellular components would provide insights into mechanism of accelerated wound healing.

The global statin market is about $23B. So how do you take something and maybe quadruple that market revenue with very little expense. Just do another study and try very hard to make a connection. We re talking about $75B here so make it happen if you still want your job and more research grants.

New study out today makes a connection between cholesterol and breast cancer ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦..hmmmm ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦.that s interesting something that your body actually produces to heal wounds gives you breast cancer. Well I guess if you can scare the sh*t out a woman by telling her she can reduce her risk of getting a lump by taking a statin as a precaution you know she going to do it. I mean just that one word alone lump is really all they need. You don t want a lump do you, that can t be good just take the medicine. It s like having a machine that prints money.

Now didn t these patents on statins just start expiring. It s amazing to just watch these guys work.

If your body needs cholesterol to produce vitamin D to help protect you from cancer how does lowering cholesterol protect you from cancer. I guess maybe we shouldn t ask too many questions and just listen. A guy wearing a $2000 suit surely must know what he is doing.

I mean really that is how easy it is to prey on someone's insecurity, fear or weakness. Very easy to do much harder for many not to do.
