Hi guys, I am new to this group. I went online found a clinic called the Landmark Clinic, which once I arrived I found out was the Wimpole Clinic. I met a guy called James who was nice and easy to talk to. He recommended 2,200 grafts at a cost of £5,000.

My hairline is fine, it’s the bald patch in the middle and the patch above the doner area I am looking at.

I have been advised the surgeon would be Dr May, has anyone dealt with them before? The online reviews seem to be quite good.

I also have a consultation online with the Chiswick hair clinic Dr Eibi who seems to have good reviews in the coming week.

And also Juvida clinic I am off to meet them in London in a few weeks time to discuss options.
I would be grateful, if someone who has dealt with any of the above to give me some honest feedback.

Going abroad is not an option, I want to stay in the UK for work and family reasons.
Thank you any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am like a rabbit in headlights, I am serious about getting the procedure done, but I have not idea who to trust and who not to.

Have you checked out the patient section on this forum there are lots of documented journeys of other forum members who have used UK clinics. I myself had my HT with Dr Arshad The Hair Dr 10 months ago in the UK and they were very professional. You will find my journey in the patient section that you can check out

Hi motkd 1.
I thought Dr May had retired but obviously not. Was it James who quoted you the graft numbers there and then or did a doctor examine you or look at your pictures?
Were you quoted for FUE or FUT?
Whilst your hairline is intact you have quite aggressive hair loss. Your crown has dipped down towards your donor zone and your hairline could thin out as well.
How old are you?
Have you considered using Finasteride. It does have a small chance of side effects but the benefits to your hair could be great. You may have a lot of miniaturised hair that could grow back.
If you`re wanting a thin coverage over all that area then 2200 grafts would give you that but imo you need at least 3000 grafts to give you a decent density.

Hi Bigmac,

Thank you for taking the time and effort to reply to me. I didn't get to meet Dr May, but I was advised by James that Dr May would carry out the procedure, I was offered FUE 2,200 grafts

I am 42, and yes I do have a lot of miniaturised hairs. I have to say I am totally baffled. I didn't want to go the cheap route of going to say Turkey, but at the same token I didn't want to go over the top and take a second mortgage either. I am looking for the best value for money solution and I believe you get what you pay for.

I did message check one of those online hair mentors spexhair asking his advice on clinics, he came back endorsing the Harley Street Clinic who subsequently I think he works for, and he also mentioned using 1mg Finasteride.

I want to do the hair transplant, and I want to do it properly, biggest problem for me who can I trust? I am finding out that its an absolute minefield to say the least.

Hi Baldingman23,

I haven't has a chance to check out the patient section, I am very new to this and still trying to find my feet.

I did briefly look at the website and it states £3,000 for 1,000 grafts, so I am assuming 2000-3000 grafts we are looking at 6k & 9k respectively?

So if I`m reading your reply correctly it was James who is quoting you the number of grafts. It should be the doctor deciding how many you need.
There are decent clinics in Turkey, just like any country, the quality will vary. Harley St Hair Clinic does decent work but I think they limit their surgery to 1000 grafts per day.
Don`t be in a rush to do anything. Take your time researching, check out patient feedback and you`re having a few consults which is advisable.
You never mentioned if it`s FUE or FUT you were quoted.

The price was for FUE. So far the only clinic where the actual consultant has arranged to discuss options with me is Chiswick hair clinic. And I totally agree with you, having anyone other than the surgeon giving advice on the number of grafts doesn’t sit too well with me either.

I am going to keep doing my research in the coming weeks and I hope to have the HT done in the next 2-3 months.

Let us know how your consult goes with Chiswick and say hi to Dr Ebi from me.

Hi guys, I was wondering if my donor area density is weak. So if I need 3,500 grafts and only 2,200 grafts can be extracted. Should I have a hair transplant done? Or maybe do a course of finasteride and minoxidil for say 6-12 months prior to a hair transplant? Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Take a peek at my thread that'll show how good finasteride can be at growing and improving hair. I say try them for a year and use that time to research.
