Permanent SMP after 10-20 years?

SMP is basically tattoo, ink, logical question is what will happen to these dots after 20 years?
Theres no way ink/dots will remain sharp after 10 years or more, skin ages, sun(UV)
Just look at these older guys who had their tattoos when they were younger

but this could be worse because its on your scalp, will your scalp turn blue or green?

do these companies(HIS,etc) guarantee it wont happen?

His do not use Tattoo ink and its not deposited as deep in the skin , if you look on the website it does explain it - the longest anyone has had this is 10yrs ( the guy who started it) and his looks good even though he was a Guinea pig .

His clearly state that beyond 10 yrs its just guess work , as long as you cover up when ur out in the summer sun it should not fade much , but us baldies should where a hat in the sun anyway .

Look on the HIS forum and if you have any queeries start a thread as you do on hear - there is a guy calling himself "Hating Hats" and he is very knowledgable , look up his past posts .

If guys post negative threads these are not taken down it is a place for honest discussion .

As with transplants - you do your research and go with what is right for you !!

Very true, I personally believe that for me temporary was not the way to go as I dont want to return every 8-12 months to repeat the procedure, actually I would like that the treatment last as long as possible.

I personally can see an argument for both temp and permanent. My own current choice would be temp but i totally get the desire for the more permanent solution.

I do believe however that if you are going to have permanent SMP then it is vital you see plenty of results IN PERSON from the clinic you choose before you go ahead, and don't just look at pictures. I know this applies to HT research too but as there aren't as many SMP results out there yet i would stress to research it very well.

I think the statement about the tattoo colour going funny would be more likely to apply to the older generation of poor tattoos you see. I know it's not the same ink they use for the smp but i personally believe newer tattoos don't change as much as they used to years ago. I have tattoos and my friend is a tattooist and mine havent changed in nearly ten years.

The problem with permannet SMP is that you cant see anyone who had it for 15 or 20 years.
So you just have blind faith that it will look good after 20 years. Who in the right mind wold wanna risk head becoming blue or green? Your bald scalp skin will age a lot in 15 years, its too much of a risk

1 year temp SMP might be too short for some, how about ones which last 2, 4 or 5 years?

Best of both worlds

With the perm type , if you decide you dont want it any more for whatever reason it can be remover by laser and as the ink is not as deep as with a normal tattoo it is easier to do - why dont you just join the HIS forum and "lurk" for a while .

Please also think about the ingredients of the inkt, they might affect your health.

this is one of the main reasons why we opted for non permanent SMP.

The whole temporary SMP sales pitch is a bit of a red herring (marketing smoke and mirrors). The problem with this "temporary" solution is exactly how long it will last? 12 months, 24 months 36 months? No body will know for sure with a high degree of certainty how long it will last because it's not soley dependent upon the ink/pigment being used.
For sure the pigment being used for semi-permanet make-up (non permanet SMP) is designed to break down and fade away more quickly than regular tattoo inks but it's not all to do with the ink/pigment being used.

We (HIS Hair Clinic) use a natural plant based composite that is not a standard tattoo ink, it is tried, tested and safe and has been used for over 10 years.
If someone wants to remove it or adapt it, the pigment we use is ideal to be laser removed immediately, safely and does not damage and remaining hair. Also the way we perform our SMP treatment over a course of several (usually 2-3 individual treatment sessions) allows the client to gradually increase the density of their results should they want to add more density and wish the end results to retain longer.
If we only perform one treatment session with our pigment it is likely to last approximately 12-18 months, hence our SMP could be classified as temporary.
By doing addition treatment sessions a week later helps the end results last much longer.

Why not design ink which lasts 4-5 years without fading within this period?

Thats the best in case you change your mind as people do change their minds

Honestly, very rare that someone want to be bald, even many old people at their 80's and more, are wearing hats because they still have not overcome the trauma of baldness.

The micropigmentation doesn't put hair between your fingers but you are not bald anymore.

Hi this statement is a little confusing to me, the reason being is because you state that a patient can add density by doing 2-3 sessions.... so obviously the dots from each sessions are in different locations close to each Other to create a look of density.

But then you say that if a patient only has one session it will probably only last 18 months. From this I am now totally confused. The reason i'm confused is because if all three sessions of dots are in placed in different locations close to one and other on the scalp to make it look more dense, then surely there is still going to be one fading dot in anyone place at anyone time if you are not going over the same dot three times to make it more permenant.

Hope that made sense lol.

Hi Bullitnut,

The dots of the three sessions are placed in the same points, I mean, the density is achieved by adding some intensity to the dots made already, not making new ones. Since the first session all the area is covered already and in the second procedure some of the dots will be reinforced and some others not, it will depend on the needs.

Hope this clarify.

Thankyou.

Can you tell me the optimal length these guys are shaving their heads, do they use open blade clippers or a normal face shaver because some look shorter than others.

Hi Bullitnut, either blades or face shaver both are good options to keep your head shaved which is the optimal length for the micropigmentation except in the case that you had hair on top, like a diffuse thinning or after HT procedures, in which case you can decide if to leave you hair grown longer if you wish, in this case the micro will produce an effect of extra density reducing the contrast between your hair and the scalp.

Thanks.

You can't really tell people that they won't be bald anymore after smp, they are still bald but its not obvious.

I'm curious too, as a chemistry major, I wonder about the molecular weight of the ink substance and how it diffuses through the dermal layers. Also if its a non polar substance, I would suppose that alcohol based minox will dissolve the SMP?
