I reached out to the Maitland clinic after researching a lot of hair restoration practitioners in the UK, Spain and Turkey. As a transgender woman, my hairline is really important to me, as it would be to any woman. I wanted to preferably find a clinic in the UK so I would not have to travel and add the additional stress of travelling whilst I was healing.
Having a very natural hairline was super important, as I wanted to sweep my hair back and not be limited in the hairstyles I could wear. The clinic helped me to design, plan and discuss the hairline over a few hours.
I was a little anxious about how I would be received by any clinic and to add to complications we entered the pandemic. However, my appointment with the clinic was unlike with the other clinics I was in contact with, it was not pushy, sales orientated, they listened, they treated me kindly and respected me being transgender.
My initial day for treatment was postponed due to the pandemic, however they arranged a new date and arranged transportation with a firm they new and used regularly, I live about 2 hours from the clinic.
The day was long, but everyone in the team was so supportive and I could see they really enjoyed their work and took it very seriously. The angle of the hairs, the way they were grouped the number of hair follicle types and locations were constantly being discussed.
They also used an ATP spray, I like to call this a 'pack lunch' for hairs (while they travel without a blood supply), my background is in biology, so I know only too well how important feeding the follicles with a food supplement (energy) is. My other friends just received a saline solution from their clinics, so I was very pleased with the treatment and solution the Maitland clinic provided.
They also helped me with the aftercare and were quick to respond to my questions. They are a lovely team.
I was so lucky..... I listened to what they said and was ultra careful and sprayed my hair every few hours after treatment as advised... and not a single hair fell out, in fact, the hairs never stopped growing after the transplant. I had the operation at the end of June and now it is December, only 5 months later and the hair grafts are at least 12 cm long.... not a single one seemed to have fallen out, they look so natural, fine at the front and thicker to the back. I was told not to expect too much for the first year and certainly not to raise my hopes until at least after 7 months.... but wow.... I am really lucky....no more wigs for me....
I recommend them regularly to my girlfriends when they ask who to use.
