My Hair transplant surgery FUT post-op (from day 1 to 9th month post surgery)...what a journey!


I remember when I started to loose my hair at my early 26 and how self-conscious it made me and stressful as well...now I am 34 and I have decided to make a FUT hair transplant surgery.
The surgery itself was not painful at all, but I had many doubts if I was taking the right choice or not...cost very high 7000$ just for the front area (I will share with you my pictures and a link to my video after 3 months surgery).

When I started to take pictures after my hair transplant surgery FUT, it was just for myself to see the progression and how successful or disappointing the results are going to be. I don't know yet for now, but I hope it'll be up to my expectations. This surgery cost me 7000$.

Yeah! a lot of money but I wanted to do it since so many years. So I made it after a lot of reflection but I am glad I've done it today regardless the results rather than to live the rest of my life regretting of not having done it earlier.

The day one right after the surgery I had to sleep in the sofa with a slope of 45% and a special U pillow around the neck so my stitched donor area won't be in friction. It was not easy, because I had to sleep sitting that way for the next 7 to 10 days... I had some blood leak because the sides stitches got open a bit, but thankfully I went to see the doctor the day after and he fixed it. I can tell you, It was really depressing feeling, seeing your face that way, and wondering if it's going to be worst or better.

I had many questions in my entourage and friends who wanted to see the progression in video so I made one (from day1 to 3 months) to show to whom want to do the move but are hesitating, hopefully this would be useful for you or them.

Don't forget guys, the most important thing / person in life is yourself! so take care of yourself first, create your own happiness and live your dreams

Nice job on the video. It's a great idea something I should do myself as it's easier to see the progression.

It's a pride feeling, the fact that I overcame my fear and did it. 12 months after, Even if the result was not quite satisfactory but fine at a some point, it brought me more confidence, hope, smile, positiveness, and more socialble...and moreover, I said goodbye to my cap
It is expensive though, but it worth investing on ones selves.
I saw your progression as well, and well done brother! How do you feel today so far topccat29 and what advices could you provide to other people reading these comments before they decide to make the move?

The video goes to 3 months post op only. Do you have pictures from 3 to 9 months' progression? How many grafts did you get?

Yes Jana makes a good point, seeing some pictures at 9 months would be good. Much better to assess the direction of the hairs along with the how well what was placed blends with the surrounding hairs. Hair transplantation can almost be described as a Mosaic. How well it all blends in determines how great the result.

I feel very good about my own progress John..........slow and steady and well worth the effort.

I viewed your 9 month result. It €™s very hard to give a constructive opinion on a personal issue such as this and most especially on a hairloss forum but without constructive opinions how do others researching learn to look for what they may be missing?


What really matters is what you think and how you feel about it. I would say that it could be improved most especially in the hairline. In my opinion sometimes with a strip the hair caliber even with singles might be too thick and the eye of the observer is drawn to the area and of course the follicles should be planted in the recipient area so that the area is not raised or lowered but shooting for as flat as the surrounding skin.


Judging from your youtube comments you seem to feel the density is not high enough. My view is that it is fine and softening up the hairline a bit would be a better goal to strive for if you decide to move forward with more work.


Anyway just my opinion...........best of luck to you.

John one would need to read the comment section of youtube to understand how you feel about your result. You now seem to be anti FUT and you would not recommend the clinic that performed your procedure..................is this correct?

I'm not sure why you do not mention that in this thread but there must be a good reason. You do seem to be coping very well with your result so kudos to you.

It can be improved but I would disagree with your suggestion on youtube that low cost can be an option. Better to choose on the best possible outcome regardless of if the price is high or low otherwise maybe do nothing.

I am a little confused. You seem to believe the procedure has been life changing yet you do not seem to be as pleased with the result................can you explain this?

Fred I would hardly consider this result a disaster. Anyone that has been around long enough will know what a true disaster looks like. No reason to make the patient feel bad as he does not seem to be intentionally nor unintentionally trying to harm others. In fact he seems to be telling others not to go to this specific clinic and is coping very well with a result that by all indications could probably be improved a bit.

You really have to give him credit for taking the time not only to post here but to actually put together videos and post them to youtube for others to see. The majority simply will not take that time as there seems to be to more concern with the self.

John your result can be improved and in my opinion although I would have gone higher with the hairline and not have had any temple point work performed it can be softened. The density looks good to me even wet as full density can never be achieved with a hair transplant and that is the compromise.

This represents a good example for others to see as they can look at it and decide maybe a different approach would be better and in turn make a better decision for themselves. Just like those that did the same for you Fred. You could have in fact turned out to be a disaster yourself but living in Belgium did give you a bit of an edge in lowering that risk.................others are not so fortunate and their choices might not be as great.

Thanks for putting together such a detailed documentation of your results by video it is a excellent way for all to see the journey you have been on. I would also like to know how you feel about the results as it is unclear?

I see a number of issues with the work that has been carried out but these are issues that are fixable in another session. What are you planning to do next?
