Minoxidil and shampoos

Only recently joined and have been doing some research over the past few years. I am 35 and slowly loosing my hairline and general thickness of my hair so decided to try regenepure dr shampoo which I have been using for around 6 months now and think this has slightly slowed down the shedding as I’ve noticed more shedding when I ran out and had to wait for my next order. I’ve also thrown in Alpecin liquid caffeine that you leave on your scalp to dry after washing but it’s too soon to tell if it’s helping or not which leaves me with minoxidil….I know most use it alongside finasteride but I would like to try this with my current regime before trying fina….I’m looking for recommendations if there’s a “best brand” and where is best to buy from as this is still new territory for me….thanks

Unfortunately, shampoos do little to nothing to prevent DHT/hair loss. They may delay shedding phase a little and give volume to your hair. It’s the hair loss meds that work.

I agree it’s very little help if any…..in regards to minoxidil would you recommend any specific brand or place to buy from? Thanks

There’s an online pharmacy shop at the top of the forum or you could try places like minoxidil direct or Dr Fox pharmacy.
You’ll need to decide if you want to use the foam or liquid. There’s also oral minoxidil which you should speak to a doctor about if you consider it.

Thanks for the help I wasn’t sure if you could buy legit minoxidil online or if you needed a prescription for it….I’ll have a look at the liquid vs foam. Not sure if you have any experience with either yourself but if so which would you recommend? Do they all tend to be the same quality of product or are there certain brands I should look for or avoid? Thanks again

I was also wondering if topical finasteride could be bought online to try that rather than tablet form?

You’ll need a prescription for topical Finasteride.
Minoxidil brands are the same. The liquid leaves your hair looking and feeling greasy, the foam will dry quick and that’s what I preferred when I tried them.

It is good to only get these products from a reputable source, the internet can throw up many places that look genuine but sell knock off copies.

I was thinking that but Bigmac recommended a few sites are there any ones you would choose?

Look at minoxidilmax.com It is legit as are the others I mentioned.
Smokey is correct, there are numerous sites which sell fake products.

I should have mentioned I’m in the UK so not sure if minoxidilmax.com would ship here? I do like the minoxidil+finasteride topical combination they have

They ship to the UK. It’s tight at the bottom of their homepage.
