Dear Kara,
We perform FUE on both males and females. Females who need a low number of grafts can get away with shaving only a small part of their donor and covering the shaved area with their long hair.
I must point out though that most of our female patients who need 2000+ grafts choose the Strip technique for two main reasons. First because the possible scar created at the back of the head does not bother them as they keep their hair long and second that shaving the donor is not required.

Shaving a patch out is no big deal though, I would think it was 10 times easier for a girl as they generally keep their hair so long.
