Hi to all forums users/readers, this is my first post and my pleasure also to share my own personal experience and hair transplant with you all.

It is still early days but the result already has been very dramatic and to the point my own family and friends hardly recognise me now. In short I am delighted and this was like for many an important step for me and I know that I have another half a year at least to the final stage but it has already paid dividends and worth sharing already.

I am a doctor myself and I have been training with Dr.Bisanga, BHR Clinic, for the past two years, so I have seen firsthand the transformations of patients and have undergone extensive training to perform hair transplantation surgery. So, I have the theory and the practical experience of performing them but also as a hair loss sufferer, I wanted to address this, firstly because I am human, yes, I am a patient as well as a doctor, and for me personally and professionally it was an important step to take.

I can really say that undergoing surgery, aside from the primary reason, to improve my appearance, it has also enabled me to connect with patients who will also undergo it, I know now what they feel and experience and I can say it has wholeheartedly given me another view and empathy with them and even though I knew I was in the best hands, I also had some nerves about surgery that is common to all patients.

Secondly, I believe in the product we offer, I have seen countless transformations but to be part of one as I am now it testament to the work and I am now a walking advertisement to the quality and naturalness of the work that Dr.Bisanga produces, people can listen to education and consultation summaries but now in me they can see also the product and change.

My family have a history of hair loss and so I was realistic in this and my age and current loss, donor limitations, were factors in the design I wanted to have, conservative yet also to frame my face naturally and to address as much as possible in one sitting. I wanted to practice what I preach and could see a conservative approach would be wise and really keep me in good stead for future loss.

As you can see from the photos, my donor was not the thickest in areas, so with this in mind we also decided to harvest some chest hair, and for me this was a good option as I have a lot of it and also the compatibility was very agreeable and really comforting to know also this is a future donor source and in Dr.Bisanga’s hands I knew it would also be a success.

My density was 65/75 so as guessed more on the lower side and was also a factor in the approach. I have been on 5mg Oral Minoxidil since the surgery.

I will also share the chest extraction photos and healing for the users to see.

Lastly, a BIG thank you to Dr.Bisanga and the team who worked on me and made this possible, I am grateful and also excited for the ongoing change and will update throughout the year and be happy to answer any questions!

Dr.Kostis

Seriously good for 5 months. It’s made a massive change already and looks really natural. @Dr. Kostis Lampro Do you take Finasteride?
Could you show your chest area healed?
Chest hair is something I’d prefer to use, rather than using beard hair first. What made you decide to use chest rather than beard grafts?

Hi Dr Lampro. Welcome to the forum and thanks for allowing Steve to post your story.
Undergoing FUE surgery yourself will certainly help you understand what goes through the patients mind before, during and after surgery. This, with your extensive training from Dr Bisanga stands you in good stead. I’m very keen to see your patient results posted on HLE.
Back to your transplant. The 2728 grafts have made a significant change to your facial appearance and density. The number can be classed as relatively low by today’s standards but how they’re used is very important and they’ve been utilised perfectly. Already the improvements make you look younger and healthier. Achieving more with less is a skill in its own.
Your donor hair really suits the length in the pictures. It looks better than your pre op.
What would you say was the hardest part of your surgery or recovery from a patients perspective?
I’m looking forward to following your progress.
All the best.

Pretty awesome so far. Will you address the crown at some point? If you do, have you enough scalp donor available? It is not often we see a hair restoration doctor document their own surgical experience, thank you for doing so.

The result is beyond my expectations so far! The crown will follow in a few months. I still have enough scalp donor but I don’t want to use everything. I will combine chest with scalp hair. So far I cannot distinguish scalp from chest after the this procedure. They will blend just fine! Thank you for you words.

True that! It’s a massive change and I am extremely happy about that! I only take Minoxidil tablet 5mg every morning. This is the reason that I have such a good growth in 5 months time. I will upload chest photos in a few weeks. But I am telling you chest was healed in two weeks maximum. I chose chest instead of scalp because beard hair are a bit coarse and chest hair could blend better!

First of all thank you for having me here! It’s an honour. Looking forward to share future cases of my own patients. The hardest part for me was the first couple nights of sleep! Because you need to maintain a specific position in bed to keep the transplanted grafts protected. For the majority is the part of anaesthesia. But not all of the people have the same tolerance. But you need to remember that the injection part last 5-10 minutes. After that the patient doesn’t feel anything. After all is a painless procedure. Significant role in the healing process plays the first two weeks after the procedure. You need to keep up with all the post op instructions. But it not some difficult. You just need to be consistent.
Thank you for you kinds words!

From Dr.K

Hi All and apologies for the delay in getting this update. I am very busy as a hair transplant surgeon and so it has been a few months since my last update that I have been keen to present, so here are my 9 month photos.

I am very grateful to Dr.Bisanga and the team as to how this is progressing and will for my next surgery tackle my crown and be booking that in the near future.

It has been for me especially as a surgeon, life changing and instills confidence in the product as I am a walking testimony.

The growth has been very good and really natural and my own family and friends who were skeptical at first are really now amazed.

I will also post a video we took at the clinic and be happy to answer any questions..Again a big thank you to Dr.Bisanga and the team at BHR Clinic for this wonderful transformation so far.

Take care,
Dr.Kostis

Wow, what a transformation. The new hairline looks so natural and really frames your face well Dr Kostis. I have said this before, but a good natural hairline takes years off people and makes them look so much younger. Always impressed with Dr Bisinga!

Very pleased to be able to present a post year update on behalf of Dr. Kostis.

It has been a while and so to recap some of the finer points of his case, you can see from clinic images at the time of surgery, the graft count used in relation to the large surface area covered was very conservative and Dr. Bisanga expertly utilised feathering and strategic placing of particular hair groupings to be able to maximise the illusion of density despite the further challenges of fine hair.

A complete new hairline was rebuilt several cms below existing native hair and the challenge of placing at required density whilst not shocking the lesser quality native hair that the doctor had been able to retain was an important factor to allow optimisation and supplementation of native hair.

I think you will agree that the result looks extremely natural and appropriate inline with the doctors native hair characteristics and has comfortably taken years off his appearance whilst the careful planning and conservative graft numbers have allowed planning for a further session to address the crown loss.
