Hair transplant in Turkey......The results!

Hey there guys
I went to Turkey to have my hair transplant. I had 4100 grafts FUE and I would like to share my results with the community. Please feel free to inbox me or post on here with any questions that you may have. I look forward to sharing this journey with you all.

Okay where do we start? Like you guys was searching for someone who had taken the plunge so to speak. Well here I am on the other side ready to tell you the absolute truth about how it all went.

I left the UK and before I knew it I was in Turkey Istanbul. I came through passport control and as I left the airport I saw the transfer company name and then saw my name on their board. The guy that worked for the transfer company spoke perfect English and was actually an Australian/Turk who had moved back to Turkey. He was very friendly and we chewed the cud for a while before he led me to the transfer vehicle outside which was a MPV mini transporter. I was then handed over to the driver who also spoke very good English. The journey to the hotel took about 15 mins and we talked about Turkish and European politics and current affairs. He pointed out where the silk road was and showed me a few sites on the way; all very interesting. We then arrived at the hotel. The reception staff spoke perfect English and knew exactly who I was and what company I was with, so I felt very reassured. The hotel is a modern clean hotel and you can look it up on Tripadvisor to see it before hand. It is located right in the town centre and a stone throw from what can only be described as the Mecca of Kebab! (and fake goods lol) The Turkish people are, in general a very friendly sociable bunch (my experience) The hotel room was very nice. It had a tchibo coffee machine with pods, 2 bottles of water, tea bags and sweets. (all free) Plus all the usual soaps and stuff. The room also had a TV and most important of all the hotel has excellent and FREE WiFi! You €™re not beating that! The bed was, I have to say extremely comfy so all in all my spirits were high. I was then contacted to say that I should go down in the morning and eat breakfast (again included in the price) and that he would send someone to meet and pick me up at 8.30 AM Breakfast was good with lots of choice of cereal, yoghurts, fruit, breads and cooked food. Tea, coffee and juices were also on offer and included.

I was met by a lovely lady who spoke perfect English and we went to the hospital. The hospital is a modern private hospital. The doctors office is on the very top floor and so we went straight into his office where he was waiting for me.

My impressions of the doctor: The very second I shook his hand and looked him in the eye, I knew that I was in safe hands. The doctor is a very genuine person, softly spoken and has a lovely temperament towards people. He understood that I had flown miles from my home and I was scared and apprehensive about everything. He put me right at ease instantly. I also want to point out that the talk of money and exchange of money was the very last thing to happen and that It was actually me who wanted to get the money out of the way first. He was not worried or bothered by it one inch. I paid in GBP and that was that.

The doctor then explained the whole procedure to me and then went on to discuss how I would like my new hairline to look. I wanted it to look natural (as you would) and so I asked him to do this at his own judgement. At the end of the day the doctor has been doing this for some 10 years or so and he would know best. So he drew a hairline on and explained that I could have it lower but it would have an effect the density, which is common sense really. I had it designed slightly lower in the end but not by much. The nurse then took my blood for the PRP and the doctor asked me if I had any allergies to any medication. I am allergic to penicillin and so he made sure that my after care antibiotic meds reflected that. I then had photos taken for the before and after. I was then taken into a medical room, much like a dentists and was given a painkiller tablet. You are then asked to take off your top and they give you a gown, shave your head and then you lay on an electronic table chair face down (there is a hole in the chair like a massage chair) The room had a TV in it so it was a good distraction. Then a nurse prepares your head with and give you the local anesthetic pain killing injections. Once that has kicked in they then start to extract your follicles. The two young nurses doing this are, just like the doctor, very friendly and compassionate. All the way through they are compassionate and often ask you if you are okay. Once the grafts were taken, you are bandaged and then have a quick break for lunch which was brought into the room for me and was a juice drink, a Turkish bread roll and a chocolate cake (also included in the cost) and then its time for more injections in the top of your head and then the doctor makes the €œslits € in which the grafts will sit. Then the grafts are placed back into your head and they also inject you with the PRP (which is also explained to you at the time) The whole process took 8 and a half hours. But because you have the pain killer tablet you will no doubt, like I, sleep for some of the transplant procedure which makes it feel quicker than it is. The injections, follicle extractions and transplants are all done by his team. The doctor does the €œslits € which is no doubt the specialist part of the whole procedure as this will determine how your hair is going to look once it grows back. Once you €™re all done you are taken back out to the doctor who debriefs you and explains how you should sleep the first night and what not to do (don €™t touch the head lol) I was then told that they had transplanted 4100 grafts, of which some have 3 hairs, some 2 and some 1. So I would say roughly 8 to 9 thousand hairs by my estimation. The procedure is painless because you are numbed up and have taken a painkiller. You will only need paracetamol to manage the after effects of the pain.

The doctor then explained that I was to be taken back to the hotel and I must eat and ask reception to book a taxi so I can go back to the hospital the next day before I flew home. The first night I felt a mixture of feelings. The drugs make you feel a bit sick (as all drugs do) and woosey. But all in all not a problem. I was told I should sleep at a 45% angle and I was to put a towel under my neck to keep me off the pillow. I ended up sleeping sitting up right up the table with 2 pillows under my chin. I will say this though about the sleeping. You may not get much in the first few days because you are very conscious about messing things up so just do the best you can as its only for a few days. The next morning I took my meds and had breakfast and got the taxi back to the hospital. I somehow left my phone in the back of the taxi on the way there and thought that I had just cost myself another £600! But the doctors assistant phoned the taxi rank and managed to get it back for me, which left me utterly amazed! She even told me not to worry! €œI will have it back in 20 mins, don €™t worry € AMAZING!!!!! That right there sums it all up for me, right there.

I then had more pictures taken and after a demonstration of how I should wash my hair (that first week with the shampoo and hair mousse product given to you, as are the weeks meds all included in the price) He also showed me tons and I mean TON €™s of before and after pictures of his work. There were people from every ethnicity, young and old. So after all the debrief and chit chat he shook my hand and I was taken to a taxi and back to the UK I came!

Ok so it €™s good to let you all know that if you are thinking about having a transplant done you should research the heck out of the whole deal. You will have swelling after, this is normal! Don €™t worry. The hairs will all fall out in a few weeks, also normal don €™t worry! You may and no doubt will lose 5 -8% of the actual grafts, NORMAL don €™t worry! You will look like a bloody mess, like you have lost a very brutal hair vs hair wrestling match (and lost) NORMAL NORMAL NORMAL. Go on Youtube, read forums, read blogs, read hair transplant websites. Do the lot and take the stress out of it all. Just make sure that you are doing it for the right reasons and that you know the highs and lows, what could go wrong and what will happen. Get informed and then make your choice. So far I am elated as you can no doubt tell. I feel awesome and I am looking at bald guys and thinking that, that isn €™t me or my destiny any more. I am the first of my bloodline, the first of my genetic DNA, the first in the history of my family that dates back to when we climbed out of the trees and stood up to say NO! Male pattern baldness is a cruel and random thing and I will not and do not have to accept it. We live in the future my friends. No doubt in years to come you will only need to have an injection or a pill to cure baldness. But for now this is the best thing that could have come along for anyone suffering with any type of baldness. I will post pictures of me before and of the after and of the swelling. Get in touch with me if you wish and I will try to answer as honest as I can. Good luck to you all and thanks for following my journey

Work looks good and looks like you are still hanging onto those grafts. Are you able to show us a few close ups of the work?

There once was an ugly duckling.........So the shedding has kicked right in and I look like I've lost a brutal hair Vs hair match. Some grafts are still in but most have fallen out. I can expect them to start to grow back (fine) in around 2-3 months time. So really my experience so far seems to be that a hair transplant is a kind of baptism by fire! You, as a guy who is losing his hair and is conscious of how it looks must go through months of looking like a plucked chicken! Much worse than before you had the transplant done lol But it is a part of it and the up side is that it will grow back and you will look awesome!!!! I want to now make it perfectly clear that after months of talks and a hair transplant (which I paid full price for) I am now an official partner of the hair transplant company Get More Hair I will be selling these services in the UK. I still would love to blog on the forums of my progress but I want to make it perfectly clear that I am now involved with Getmorehair. That being said if anyone has any questions please email me or post on here and I will answer honestly. More pictures as the hair grows and any questions just ask.

Hey guys
So here is the progress 8 weeks post op. As you can see I have cut all my hair very short to keep it looking uniformed. My "original hair" is growing like cray due to the PRP Stem cell therapy and no doubt the medication and shampoo regime.
I am still very very happy with these early results considering that I am not really expected to see any new growth for at least another month. No one has stopped me and asked if I have had a transplant. People are shocked when I tell them because at the moment my hair looks "normal"

Definately worth the money.

Yes I opted for FUE. I would not have had FUT done due to the scarring. It just looks brutal and not what I wanted. I am super happy with how things are going. The shedding has stopped and now I can see very fine blonde hair re-growth starting. I would guess that these will get more and more and then thicken up. If that's the case then I think I am in for an amazing result. Please Hair Gods!

Hey guys
So I am 5 months post op and so I am going to post some photos. Whilst looking at my photo's I would like you to bear this in mind. I was totally bald (no hair at all) in the area's to the left and right of the center of my forehead. I was also totally bald where on the "bald spot" Also consider that my hair has never been really really thick and these photo's that I am displaying are of me with some gel on my hair. As you will know, dry hair looks thicker.

Finally everyone's hair is different and so results do vary. But most importantly....I am super super happy with these early results. To have a real final result it will be 1 year post op. No one and I mean no one, not even old friends and family who I have bumped into have noticed that I have had a hair transplant. I have been quick to tell them and am always amazed by their reaction. I have had people, even hairdressers, in shock! So to say that I feel a million bucks is an understatement. I also recommend that anyone on this forum goes to YouTube and searches for "Chris from Vancouver" He went to Hassan and Wong in Vancouver and by the sound of it, paid a fortune for his transplant. He had somewhere in the region of 5000 grafts and he is about 2 weeks in front of me post op. His transplant results look very good, there is no doubt about that. But I just want to let it be noted that I paid a fraction of what he paid. It comes back to what I said in my early blogs. Even if you go to Harley street in London and go to the best clinics, odds are you going to have a foreign doctor do the work on your head, and I bet a £1 to £100 that the doctor doesn't do the whole thing from start to finish, rather just the "key" elements.
So I hope you enjoyed this installment and I am sorry if it has been a long time coming. I will try to do more.
All the best my bald brothers x
Mickey
