Dr. Bisanga hair transplant - I’ve finally done it !

Well after many years of lurking on this forum and always being tempted to get a procedure today I finally crossed the line .
I had already had consultations in England but following my London consultation with Dr Bisanga my mind was made up that I had comfirmed in my mind that he was the Dr I wanted to go with.
A huge thanks to Ian for sorting things out for me and always happy to assist with any questions.
It’s been a long 2 days with the travelling yesterday and the surgery today starting at 7.30am through to 6pm.
I won’t bore everyone with the ins and outs of the procedure but I will say that Dr Bisanga and the team were a class act. I must know be patient and follow procedure in the hope I get one of the many Bisanga results I crave for .

The work looks good. I like the surgery plan too. Not too aggressive but a decent size surgery of 3001 grafts that should produce a nice result for you. As expected, the surgery went smoothly for you. Now it’s a case of resting up and following those post-op instructions.

Good choice! Your forelock must be quite strong with it left alone. How are you finding the oral minoxidil?

Yeh Dr Bisanga happy with forelock - quiet a few Greta in there which are hard to see when so short.
no Issues with the minoxidil. I take 2.5mg - I went to My GP before starting and I’ve been back to get checked over. Everything is the same .

Congratulations on completing your surgery. I am honestly thrilled for you.

The work looks great and to be honest, looking at the depth of recession and placement, you styled and hid loss very well. Very shortly that will be a thing of the past.

As said, I am very pleased for you and throughout our correspondence it is clear that you are a very genuine guy and really performed your diligence which the importance of cant be emphasised enough.

Hairline design looks on point and very appropriate and no doubt these 3000 grafts will create really quite an impressive transformation in 12 months time.

I will share clinic photos with you shortly and I for one am very much looking forward to following your progress and taking this journey with you.

Rest up and let healing take place. As you know patience is key over these next months, and at the back end of summer you will be well on your way.

Thanks BM & thanks for all the work you do on this forum. It’s been a big help to me. It’s been a long old road and at times I wondered if I would ever actually get it done but I chose my Dr carefully and it was hard to save the money. When I lay on the bed and the grafts started to be removed I had a moment where I closed my eyes and thought wow I’ve actually done it ! Yes I’m another patient to the clinic which is totally understandable but for me on a personal note it really was a big thing. I shall follow the post op instructions then after things settle down I’ll do my best to forget about it and not become obsessed.

You have been a tremendous help and i truly do appreciate all your help.
fingers crossed for a Great result.
In time it will be very special to not have to worry about the wet and wind blowing my cover up everywhere! To go to a barbers and let them simply cut my hair without asking them to leave certain areas long .

Back home from my trip.
Plenty of swelling across the forehead and black eyes to go with it.
Ice looks to be doing its job and fetching it down.
Here are the pics of my donor - surgery was Thursday.

Your donor is looking good for 2 days post-op. The extraction pattern is well spaced out and I see grafts have been taken around the nape and around the ears where the fine singles are located. These will help create a natural looking hairline.
As for swelling, some get it, some don’t. Anyone who sees you, it’ll take their focus away from your head. Tyson Fury sparring partner.
It will soon pass, especially with the ice packs.

Post op swelling was always likely with 3000 grafts placed frontally, and this has likely increased although dropped today. A couple more days and the worst of this will have passed.

As Bigmac said, despite only a few days post surgery, you can see the distribution and managed extraction pattern is optimal and you won't have any concerns. Just yesterday actually a saw a 2500 graft patient 6 weeks post surgery with a aggressive skin fade and it looked very impressive.

Thats a great comment, when in the chair and grafts began to be removed you had a , I've finally done it moment.
The process can be surreal, especially for those of us who have been researching and considering surgery for many years, it can feel this way.

Whilst only a few days out at current, you will honestly reach a stage where you forgot how it was to have that pre surgery hair status. We never think we will forget. All those countless hours style, concealing, being conscious etc. but it very quickly becomes the norm and this is all for the better and your morning routine will change etc

Yeh it’s going fine , I have no itching of the grafts and the redness seems to be really settling.
I’m following the clinics after care - tomorrow I get to start washing the scabs off which I’m looking forward to. I’m actually really enjoying having short hair !
I’m prepared for the shed but it’s nice to know that short hair is a nice option in the future.

It`s surprising how many people suit the buzzed look. It is different to a bald look. How long are BHR advising you wait before having your first hair wash?
Good to hear no itching and the redness is settling down. As for the shed, it happens to most but a lucky few continue to grow

They gave me various creams and shampoos etc and full instructions for which day .
Basically the first 7 days are spraying with saline every 2 hours , applying a cream to the donor twice daily and there is a spray shampoo which you spray on the grafts and rinse of with a jug after 3 minutes and the same shampoo on the donor but rub it in .
From day 8 you do the same but it says to gentle rub the grafts and there is also another shampoo to use . So from day 8 I start to loosen off the scabs ?
