22, M, Looking for some advice

I wouldn't say I'm balding yet. I still have volume and from a distance, you wouldn't be able to tell I had any problem with my hair. But I have the hairline of someone who might be balding. I don't want to post a picture of myself for privacy reasons but the closest approximation I could find is Marlon Brando in the early 50s, specifically in Streetcar Named Desire (I've attached a picture below for reference).

I've always had a naturally tall and wide forehead but my hairline has always been kind of straight until 18/19 when I started to notice a visible regression particularly on the right side of my head, much like Brando.

Only 2 people in my family are bald - my maternal grandfather and his son. My paternal grandfather, my father, every other one of my uncles all have hair in their old age so I have some hope I won't go bald but I still have a problem with my hair as it is.

Are there any treatments that would be ideal for someone in my situation? Ideally, I'd like to stick with shampoos and more natural methods but I am quite open to taking medications as well.

Providing you have no underlying conditions the treatments that work are the hair loss meds Fin, Dut, Minoxidil. Shampoo will do next to zero for preventing hair loss. PRP is an option as I`ve seen people respond quite well to it.
If your hairline stayed as is (same as Marlon) I think you will be ok. I doubt many, if anyone would notice.
You could take some pictures marking and measuring where your hairline is right now. Then in 6 months or longer take another set to compare. It may well be that you don't lose much more in the future. Not everyone continues with the recession.

My personal choice is Finasteride. If you respond well to it your loss can be stabilised and sometimes see miniaturised hairs strengthened.
I’ve been on Finasteride since 2005.
Frontal hair usually responds well to minoxidil. If you’re unsure about them, just monitor your hair. Research possible sides too.
Catching hair loss early is best.

I don't have any problems on the back or top, just the front and sides. Should I go with minoxidil then?

Me personally, I would just use finasteride and I would be ok with your current hairline. If you’re unhappy with it and want to try and make improvements you could add minoxidil.
Maybe a consultation with a HT clinic, dermatologist or trichologist would be beneficial as they’ll explain the meds to you in more detail and examine your scalp/hair.

Stick to finesteride only for now

Even if u only keep hold of ur hair what u have now
If after 18 months u feel u want more yeah maybe try monoxidil together with finesteride 2 get extra boost

As bigmac says if u still have the hairline u have now when u are 40 50 yrs old

Use proven meds such as finasteride and monoxide. Herbal meds are not worth it and lack proof.

As others already pointed out, Finasteride is the way to keep your hair, but you should as always discuss this with a Doctor and he will tell you the potential side effects.

I would suggest consult with a HT doctor about treatments, many offer online consultatations. Most GPs have not got much knowledge About hair loss.

maybe PRP is an option. I have been on it since 5 years. but is has gotta be high quality prp, most prp offered out there is not
