Transplanted area feels different and worrying unhappy

Dear all

Had my transplant on temple zone and frontal zone on 18th Sep. So 15 days till today. The donor zone is great and feels 100% normal and cured.

However the transplanted zone still feels different and i feel a bit of tightness ONLY on the transplanted zone and when i touch it feels significantly different and a bit puffy and i can clearly feel the difference in the skull skin in transplanted zone vs rest of the head..

Also the receiver zone feels a bit elevated from the rest of the skull. The difference between the non-recipient zone & the transplanted zone is very clear and i feel it all the time.

Is this normal even after 15day of surgery ? Has anyone else had the experience ? I’m also getting worried that this might be cobblestoning ?

You`re only a little over 2 weeks post op so I would try not to worry about it. Your recipient area may just be taking time to settle down. Contact the clinic if you still have concerns.

Very early days dude, things settle over time and you've just had a surgery with 1000s of tiny incisions to the area so it will take time to feel normal again dude... mine was extra sensitive for ages after surgery but feels great now.

Thanks for asking....It feels much better now and i will say 99.9% it's OK> growth has been slow, but i am being patient .. The surgery was 107 days ago... so approx. 3.5 months...

What do you think of the progress so far ?

That's good to hear everything is ok. It is easy to get stressed when you think something is not right.
At 3.5 months your hair looks decent. Do you have a picture before surgery to compare?
Are you using any hair loss regimen to prevent further loss?

No specific regime (except 1mg finasteride 5-6 days a week), but please link me any post on the forum/website that discuss good regime to speed up growth post-op (i was planning to make a question to forum one of these days )

You're definitely having new growth. You hair is looking fuller already.
Your donor extractions looked very clean and tidy.
How many grafts did you get in total?

Thank you Big mac for the encouraging words... with bit of oily hair it looks less dense, when lighter (after shower) it looks more dense...
I will keep finasteride for the moment at least 1 year and then reduce the dosage a bit.

for the grafts... i got 2800 grafts.. seems a lot for the area the doc covered !?! i put both the image for your reference...

You got a decent hair count. You still had X amount of hair in your frontal forelock so the placement has concentrated more on the hairline and temple corners to create density around your native hair. The placement looks nice and refined.

Hello @Bigmac , Thanks for keeping in touch. It will be 180 days tomorrow.
What do you think of the growth so far ? i feel it has been upto my expectation

I will let you comment looking at the pictures. Very frankly speaking - i feel the number of graft could have been increased for the price and area covered could have been increased as well along with a bit more lower hairline on the right side.

I am still on finasteride oral dose of 1mg everyday for 6 days a week. I also take biotin supplement. Any suggestions or advice on to better take care of the transplanted area and improve the growth rate ?

I think it’s looking good for 6 months. You’re only at the halfway stage, so you should experience more growth and maturing.
if at 12 months you feel some areas are a little thin either in the transplanted or other areas you could have a touch up procedure.

Being on Finasteride and Biotin is enough for the growth rate. Just have to be patient. The hardest part you’ve already done.
