Swimming and fading of SMP

Some guy on another forum asked this question and didn't get any reply so i thought i would put it on here. Can the chlorine in swimming pools make the SMP fade?

It was actually the permenant type BM, I can't see it fading myself after everythings healed but would it speed up the fading for temp SMP for a regular swimmer?

The ink dye with the temporary smp will definately fade faster with regular contact with chlorine. I recall Melina stating that the more active a person is with frequent showering, swimming, etc, the ink gets absorbed through your body and it fades out externally faster. We were a bit curious as to why this would happen since the needle depth for the ink is deep enough for it not to be affected by chlorine/sun/sweat, etc.

Chlorine can cause premature signs of aging. Even small amounts of chlorine can be harmful over a prolonged period of time. When showering heat opens your pores and allows the chlorine to seep into your skin. Chlorine strips the skin of its natural oils and causes it to dry and crack, Swimming pools are full of Chlorine which will weaken the skins resistance allowing it into the lower epidermis layers.

Hi,

I had this concern seen as I recently moved to miami I was both worried about the sun and the chlorine in the water. So far so good for me on both fronts, I have been using water resistant sunblock to so I'm thinking that perhaps this would help with the chlorine too... What do you think.

I have never noticed any fading with our clients that live active lifestyles including swimming, for years I have told our clients in Brazil, Southern Spain and Dubai for example to use sun protection to make sure the treatment maintains the colour as well as possible, very few if any listen to my recommendations and in 4-5 years we dont see any real change, we might see it over a longer timeframe but if its good pigment this should not be a issue.

Thanks Chris and Salvar, the water resistant sunblock seems like a good idea for holidaying and for those who live in hotter climates and swim a lot.
