Consultation quote

Hey All,

I’ve been given a quotation for 3500 grafts by a clinic with a well respected surgeon. I’m being quoted 4€ per graft excluding VAT.

Does anyone think this is pretty expensive and do clinics not usually give a lower charge after so many grafts?

Would appreciate advice

Could you share some pictures showing your level of hair loss and describe what the clinic advised? The price quoted is pretty average. Some clinics do lower the cost after X number of grafts. You’d need to ask the clinic about this.

The estimation of grafts I trust it’s just the cost seems more than people have been quoted with other reputable clinics

@Lost123 if you are concerned about pricing than do more research on other doctors and check out all the results from them and compare their results with the doctor you have chosen and thn take your decision based on your findings....

I’ve also had a consulation with Dr Bisan** but apparently Dr Kostis does some of the surgery which I am a little apprehensive as I have no idea who he is or seen reviews. Surely for the high cost it should be Dr Bisan** only as this is who I wanted and price is the same as when he did it alone with his technicians?

Dr bisanga is an ethical surgeon and he will not let some unskilled hands operate on any patient but i can understand your concern and your reservations but i think they also have an option in which dr bisanga himself does all the extraction and incisions but the pricing is higher....

Yeah I totally agree he is but the price is the same for when he worked on his own with no other doctor. He does the incisions and technicians do the test apparently

Why has Dr Bisangas price significantly increased? He is €7-8 euro per graft and now charges €4 for another doctor named Kostis to do the surgery with Dr Bisanga only doing a few incisions.

Really shocked at this and the charge for another doctor unknown with 1-2 results online is crazy.

To clarify some details as unfortunately the information that you have been provided is not accurate. To clear up any confusion for yourself and other forum users -

Standard surgery at BHR Clinic is €4.00 per graft. These surgery conditions mean that Dr. Bisanga will cut your recipient sites. It is the recipient sites that are responsible for design, depth, direction and density.

Punching of grafts in the donor area is performed by both Dr. Bisanga and Dr. Kostis.

The idea that Dr. Kostis performs most of the surgery and Dr. Bisanga makes "a few incisions", is completely innaccurate.
It is these surgery conditions that have represented 90% of BHR surgery over the last 3 years and hence the multiple patient and clinic posted results throughout this timeline represent these conditions. New results have been made public on this and other forums and platforms on a monthly basis over this timeframe and so there are many cases available to view. Your post suggests that such conditions have only 1 or 2 cases, which is not correct.

The cases that you refer to of surgery solely with Dr. Kostis are not reflective of surgery with Dr. Bisanga and as such pricing is available at a lesser price point when considering only Dr. Kostis.

Standard pricing for Dr. Bisanga is not €7 per graft.

If your case or a case that you may be referring to with higher pricing is based on a very challenging repair situation or a case that may require relying on other body hair sources, then cases are priced uniquely and subject to personal circumstances of the patient.
As your concern has been presented on multiple threads and based upon inaccurate details within this thread, and as you have detailed in other threads that you have attended consultation, if you can please advise your details and name of your advisor and I can then verify all specifics and your advisor can then answer any further questions or clarify any further confusion that you may have.

Each and every clinic and doctor will present their own unique pricing. This will be based upon their experience, quality of surgery, artistic vision, consistency of results and then based on these factors, demand. If you feel unhappy with the price point of Dr. Bisanga, that is your prerogative, but to present information in an inaccurate way as per this thread, is not honest nor helpful in any way to the community.

Many thanks

Ian

If I am incorrect with Dr Bisanga working on his own as per price then I apologise.

How much is he per graft for surgery alone and to be clear a non repair case?

This is my second surgery my first was not with the BHR clinic.

Also Ian are there any before after picture with Dr Kostis working alone as I would be very interested too?

Apologies for any confusion

@Lost123

Thank you for your response.

I would encourage you to reach out to your advisor who scheduled your consultation and has knowledge of your case as they will be best able to inform you of all relative details. Pricing can be reflective of surgery history.

The term "repair" is somewhat subjective at times. Regardless of the word repair, it is important to appreciate that a non virgin scalp (previous surgery) and a virgin scalp patient present two different scenarios.

In a virgin scalp patient, the doctor can measure density in the donor and based on graft demands, can calculate that x amount of grafts can be extracted from each cm2 to meet graft requirements.

For a patient who has had previous surgery and especially with a different clinic who will approach extractions and manage their extraction pattern differently, it is not as straightforward as punching x amount of grafts in every cm2 of donor. If previous extractions have focused more heavily in certain areas or some areas were not optimally managed, this presents a very different scenario to ensure that graft requirements are met and the donor continues to present a homogenous visual density without any obvious decline or weakness in any area. This requires further time and planning and therefore presents different challenges to a virgin scalp patient.

If revisiting the same recipient area of previous surgery, then angles and direction of hairs have been man made and placed based on your previous doctors recipient sites. Oftentimes these will not ideally mimic native hair direction and so this presents unique challenges for the doctor as each follicle will present changes in angles and depths made by the doctors hand and therefore challenges are presented that are not present on virgin scalp patients.

This is without considering any potential impact to the scalp and skin tissue and so whilst many of our patients may have had surgery at previous clinics prior to choosing BHR, it is important for all patients to appreciate the challenges and differences between virgin scalp and non virgin scalp status.

Depending on when your previous surgery was performed, if it was prior to your consultation with Dr. Bisanga, then the doctor will have those details noted on your consultation form and will be able to advise based upon that knowledge.

Your advisor will be able to answer your questions and provide all further relevant details.
